Hey everyone! I’ve been testing out those phone camera undertone tests at home to discover my skin’s undertone, but I’m facing something odd. I did a test early in the morning around 7:30 a.m. near my bedroom window and got a cool undertone result. Then, just after lunch at about 1 p.m., I tried it once more by the living room window and this time it suggested a warmer undertone. I know my skin doesn’t actually alter its tone that much during the day, so I’m pretty sure it has to do with the daylight changing and how it hits my face on camera. For example, the morning light from the east-facing window is gentle and slightly blue, but the afternoon light is brighter and warmer because of the west-facing window. I even tried switching from natural window light to a white LED lamp but still got inconsistent results. I found an insightful blog post that explains how daylight temperature and where you sit can really impact skin tone readings in photos, which clarified a lot for me personal color test . I’m curious if anyone else has had their undertone tests fluctuate depending on the time of day or lighting conditions? Is there a best time — like maybe mid-morning or late afternoon — to do these tests to get more consistent results? Also, are there any trusted indoor lighting setups that mimic natural daylight well enough to make these skin tone tests give reliable readings? I’d love some insight or even just personal experiences from the community, because I want to make sure I’m not getting faulty readings from a tool that’s supposed to help me figure out my natural colors. Thanks in advance!
